South West Seven | Seven Music

Belfast duo South West Seven, who dropped mix #4 in our exclusive podcast series last year, have been super busy recently with releases on the likes of Kolour Ltd, Solardisco and Carry On. And what’s more, they have also gone and set up their own record label Seven Music to showcase not only their own productions, but the releases of some of the hottest up and comers on the scene.

In case you missed it the first release from Sydney Young (a secret alias for an already well known producer) with the superb Lost in Philly EP was released last month. With the first release causing a bit of stir, Sean and Ric have followed up with some quality South West Seven productions. The What We Do EP features title track What We Do, Play With Love, and Miss April along with a stunning remix from German duo Autodeep. The EP is lush, deep house goodness and has garnered support from the likes of  The Revenge, Ashley Beedle, Faze Action, Ekkohaus, Mihai Popoviciu, Roberto Rodriguez , OOFT, Andy Ash, and Moodymanc. It’s released today and is available through the likes of Juno, Beatport, iTunes, Traxsource, and all other good shops.

Here’s previews of the tracks..

And it doesn’t stop there! 7m003 follows soon after at the end of the month with Ric stepping behind his Scope moniker to give us the Concerns EP, complete with a remix from Audio Soul Project.

And with more releases already lined up, it seems certain that 2011 will continue to provide us with some top quality house beats from this fledgling label.

Keep an eye on their Soundcloud, and Facebook for more news and updates.

ISODISCO PODCAST 004 | SOUTH WEST SEVEN

Next up for the fourth installment in our series of exclusive guest mixes is an all-vinyl selection from two of Belfast’s very finest – SouthWestSeven.

Sean Grieve & Ric McClelland have been mainstays on the local DJ and production circuit for longer than we can remember. Immaculate DJs, and with a distinguished production background, their individual outputs over the years as S-Groove and Scope were snapped up by labels such as Urban Torque, Plastic City, Forensic Records, and also featured on compilations for the all-conquering Global Underground and Toolroom. continue..

SouthWestSeven | SouthWestSeven EP

SouthWestSeven is a new project for Belfast duo Ric McClelland and Sean Grieve, with an ethos of supplying some quality disco, jazz funk, soul & boogie all with a Deep House twist.

You may know Ric McClelland as the brainchild behind Scope, with a string of quality deep house releases & remixes for the like of Urban Torque, NRK and Plastic City to name but a few. Sean has been behind the S-Groove moniker with releases on Forensic and Dutchie Records

The two guys have gone into the studio over the last number of months and their hard work has come to fruition with a self titled EP released this week as the third in the Kolour Ltd Series for Kolour Recordings

Following on from Eddie C and Alex Agore in this limited edition vinyl-only series, the lads have provided 3 killer tracks which are sure to wreak havoc on any dancefloor.

Sensation is very much on a feel-good vibe, with a looped female vocal, providing a groove reminiscent of Armand Van Helden’s Flowerz. The Only One is dripping with funk, with a phat bass line to tease the crowd and bring it right up a notch. And our pick of a great bunch is the excellent My Ride complete with killer vocal, heavy bass line, soaring strings and stunning build to a euphoric piano section.

And we’re not the only ones who think this is a great package of songs – My Ride has featured recently in Sleazybeat’s Melbourne Deepcast 22, and Sensation was featured on a Future Disco radio show, and chosen as his No 1 track in the recent RA Chart by Ooft!

The record is out now, pick it up at Juno, or usual suspects – be quick with this very limited pressing though.

We’re also delighted to announce that SouthWestSeven will provide an exclusive all-vinyl session for our isodisco mix series, so stay tuned for full interview and a very special mix from the guys.
