Sleazy Beats

Monsieur Monod | Smiling At The Moon mix

Monsieur Monod is probably better known as one half of the Sleazy Beats Recordings crew, so by default has fantastic taste in deep house music. He’s also a technically brilliant DJ and clearly always puts loads of thought and programming into everything he does, but he’d probably try and tell us all differently ;)

The upshot is that his too infrequent mixes are always joys to behold, and he’s just dropped this lil beauty for everyone’s love and attention. And it’s absolutely ace – perfect for lazy Sunday mornings or whenever you need a massive dose of warm soothing vibes like, y’know, one of those absolutely horrific flights home after four sleepless hardcore days on the sauce, and you get a seat surrounded by crying babies. This mix will help fix that situation. If only I’d had it last week ffs.

Re Sleazy Beats btw – in case you didn’t know already the 10th and final release in what will surely be remembered as one of the most genre-defining record labels of modern times, is available now – a truly wicked EP by Frank Booker (check out the 15 min mark of this mix for the awesome POINTS off the record.) A new series of records under the Sleazy Beats Black Ops umbrella is on the near horizon, keep em peeled.

Sleazy Beats BBC ATL Mix

Yo everyone, super sorry for being so bloggin quiet throughout Feb! We’ve been totally snowed under with work, gigs, organising some AMAZING parties for the months ahead (seriously exciting stuff) and of course some intensive partying training ahead of next weeks 2nd birthday.

And with that in mind, check this right out – our buds at the essential BBC Across The Line Dance Show were kind enough to whirl this fantastic mix from the Sleazy guys on last night’s programme. Posted for the benefit of our overseas listeners who might not be able to access the entire show on listen again, but if you’re in the UK , tune in to the whole amazing show here.

And yeah, if you wanna pick up advance tickets for the gig (our last couple of parties have been close-the-door jammers) head on over to RA.

isodisco Top Ten of Eleven Pt1

It has to be said, we’re completely shite at this Top Ten thing. We originally intended to do a mix of all our favourite records from this year, but quickly realised that going from 85bpm to 128bpm in a pretty short time span would be somewhat of a challenge. Then there’s the what-has-proved-t0-be-impossible task of selecting our ten favourite tracks of the year, but more on that later..

ISODISCO PODCAST 009 | SLEAZY BEATS RECORDINGS

Is Sleazy Beats the hottest label on the scene right now? Well, if the criteria for such an accolade includes a quality standard of straight-to-cart-without-listening, a back catalogue of collector’s items, a hugely individual and instantly identifiable brand image, a blog of essential reading and to top it all off an amazingly cool attitude to the entire project, then yes – Sleazy Beats is quite possibly the hottest label on the scene right now. continue..

V/A | I Wanna See All My Friends At Once

A very essential cd release drops this week, a collaborative project between two of the most progressive and consistent labels around and one of the finest disco-house heads in the UK.

I Wanna See All My Friends At Once is a compilation of tracks from the archives of Wolf Music and Sleazy Beats, much of which to date has been vinyl-only. It’s also the first commercially available mix from Merseyside’s Cosmic Boogie whose CD1 fusion of Wolf and Sleazy Beats’ brilliant slo-mo and midtempo disco, boogie and house jams (the Revenge, Craig Bratley, Cole Medina, Blacklodge, Duff Disco etc.) is properly outstanding.

DJ-friendly CD2 features a full-length selection of that previously vinyl-only brilliance from the two labels, and is the baby that does it for us.. With Tornado Wallace’s monstrous Be My Ladyboy, and Fantastic Man’s Look This Way on board, two stunning dancefloor weapons, this is worth the door money alone.

Widespread availability on this one – Play and Amazon, but word on the street is that Juno, Phonica or Chemical would be a finer choice. Compilation tracklist and a dl of the Revenge’s sample-heavy Curtis from a couple of years back, down yonder..

Francis Inferno Orchestra | The Night He Came Home EP

The super consistent Sleazy Beats have just dropped the latest addition to their stable and, unsurprisingly, it’s yet more utter greatness.

SBR006 comes courtesy of Melbourne native Francis Inferno Orchestra, whose profile is skyrocketing after a string of stellar releases on Dikso, Wolf Music and Under The Shade.

The Night He Came Home is his debut Sleazy Beats EP and is just a bit massive. Teetering along the beatdown disco/mid-tempo house persuasion throughout,  the EP is a devastating showcase of just how talented FIO is. Rush Back is the pick of the bunch for us on this one – an  immaculately-arranged, mid-tempo deep disco lick, prodded along by a gorgeous vocal and sick underlying groove. If this isn’t a proper summer anthem, we’ll swallow the wax in one go.

Lovers and The Fire Is Real complete the EP, two infectious dancefloor weapons that can be filed alongside your hypnotic Small World Disco/One Man Edit/heavy beatdown re-works.

Check em out..

The Fire Is Real

Lovers

and the sumptious Rush Back

Then head to Juno, Phonica, Picadilly, Clone or whatever your favourite store may be. These don’t hang around long and with no digital or repress, they end up going for stupid money – don’t say you haven’t been warned!

Matthew Kyle | Diner City Sounds Vol 1

Our good friend, the whole way from Texas via NYC, see’s the release of his solo debut EP this week.

To kick off the new vinyl only Diner City Sound label, Matthew has provided 4 new cuts oozing with funk, that groove along very nicely without going over 102bpm. Just the way we like it!

With the EP receiving over 16,000 listens on Soundcloud, and being charted by the likes of LTJ Experience, and Sleazy Beats, this is a quality package all round.

You can listen to the EP below

And it will be available to buy on Juno, this Wednesday 9th Feb on limited edition vinyl, so grab it while you can.

Also, be sure to check out the new podcast, Matthew has recently done for the great Melbourne Deepcast series. This one is aimed firmly at the dancefloor, with a few well known classics thrown in. Check it right here, this is great!
