South West Seven | Seven Music

Belfast duo South West Seven, who dropped mix #4 in our exclusive podcast series last year, have been super busy recently with releases on the likes of Kolour Ltd, Solardisco and Carry On. And what’s more, they have also gone and set up their own record label Seven Music to showcase not only their own productions, but the releases of some of the hottest up and comers on the scene.

In case you missed it the first release from Sydney Young (a secret alias for an already well known producer) with the superb Lost in Philly EP was released last month. With the first release causing a bit of stir, Sean and Ric have followed up with some quality South West Seven productions. The What We Do EP features title track What We Do, Play With Love, and Miss April along with a stunning remix from German duo Autodeep. The EP is lush, deep house goodness and has garnered support from the likes of  The Revenge, Ashley Beedle, Faze Action, Ekkohaus, Mihai Popoviciu, Roberto Rodriguez , OOFT, Andy Ash, and Moodymanc. It’s released today and is available through the likes of Juno, Beatport, iTunes, Traxsource, and all other good shops.

Here’s previews of the tracks..

And it doesn’t stop there! 7m003 follows soon after at the end of the month with Ric stepping behind his Scope moniker to give us the Concerns EP, complete with a remix from Audio Soul Project.

And with more releases already lined up, it seems certain that 2011 will continue to provide us with some top quality house beats from this fledgling label.

Keep an eye on their Soundcloud, and Facebook for more news and updates.

Factory Floor | ~(REAL LOVE) Optimo (Espacio) mix

The Optimo guy’s have signed up London-based trio Factory Floor, for a release on their label in early April. With the legendary Stephen Morris of JoyDivsion/New Order on production duties, the guys have been causing quite a stir, with their debut release gaining 9 out of 10 in NME, describing it as “the soundtrack of underworld disco”.

Their live performances have gained them support slots for the like of Fuck Buttons, Cold Cave, Liars and Andrew Weatherall, and if you are in London tonight they will be headlining the Dollops warehouse party with support from JD Twitch (Optimo). Full details right here

Optimo have also provided a storming remix of their new release, which has gained the support from the like of James Holden and The Quietus. And you can download it right here

Bicep | EP1

Easily one of the biggest tracks of the year this – so big in fact we haven’t quite worked out where or how to play it. At 113bpm it’s primed as a mid-set bomb, a nice shift in direction and a genuine ten minutes of what the fuck is this. Problem is though, it’s so epic nothing follows it. We’ve chosen to take the easy option recently and anyone that happened to be at our last party when this closed the night will testify as to the heaving wreck it leaves the dancefloor.

Bicep – Darwin

This won’t hang around long, pick it up while you still can at Juno, Phonica, Chemical or whoever else you choose to ship your wax. JunoDL for the digital generation.

Bicep by the way, are the brains and brawn behind the stellar Feel My Bicep, and regularly haul their raw house and disco sets across the world. They’re headed for Belfast Music Club in lil old Belfast on Boxing Night, which will be entirely unmissable if you’re in the vicinity!

New Mark E bits

Few new Mark E bits for your rather immediate attention..

- Spanking new mix over at Michael Reutten‘s excellent Soulsearching, click roight here.

- Nother spanking mix and cool interview he’s just done for the jointhedots crew, available here.

- New Merc release is out now, and ploughed straight to the top of the Juno charts, probably because it’s a little fucking beaut. Check. It. Out. Heeeere.

- Due out next month is Mark’s hotly anticipated Black Country Dub of Take Em Up, the standout from Shit Robot‘s recent From The Cradle To The Rave LP. This is scary good, meaning both scary and good. Listen!

- Word is, Mark’s debut solo album is also just about nailed, expect it to drop on Merc in Spring 2011. Included will be Call Me, a track that some kind soul ripped from his August beatsinspace mix and kindly stuck up on tinterwebs.. How freakin awesome is this.

Bit mad on all the old hot links that post, but there ya go!
