We’ve been a bit quiet on the blog front for the last while. With excuses ranging from broken laptops, being homeless for a few weeks, or just being Skef, we haven’t had the chance to post up as much as we would like to, but we have been busy! Make sure to stay tuned for the next in our exclusive podcast mix series coming this week, with a few more belters lined up over the next while.
In the meantime, there has been so many great edits floating about, so here are just a few rocking our boat at the minute. Some great ones for those summer time parties!
Next up is Matthew Kyle’s sublime edit of Bobby Womack. You know what sort of groove to expect by now, and this doesn’t fail to deliver
Then we have a cracking edit from Daniel Swainger. Many more of these on his Soundcloud
Next up, from Drop Out Orchestra, a blissful edit of Sade’s classic (even better than Shola Ama’s!)
Any finally we have a brilliant edit of Jennifer Hudson from the legendary Mark Seven. We were pointed to this one by Mike from Belfast Music Club, who are bringing Mark over this summer. Looking forward to that!
In case you missed it, we recently provided the guest mix on the excellent Holbeck & Gardiner’s SloMo Radio Show on SS Funk and Disco Radio.
Past guests have included Dave Allison (Kinjo), Laura Ingalls (the Horses), the unstoppable Matthew Kyle (NoRequests), Iann Mann (MannMadeMusic) and Mushrooms Italia – some of the very best in slo-mo house and disco output one and all!
The show is broadcast on a fortnightly basis – tune in right here.

Our good friend, the whole way from Texas via NYC, see’s the release of his solo debut EP this week.
To kick off the new vinyl only Diner City Sound label, Matthew has provided 4 new cuts oozing with funk, that groove along very nicely without going over 102bpm. Just the way we like it!
You can listen to the EP below
And it will be available to buy on Juno, this Wednesday 9th Feb on limited edition vinyl, so grab it while you can.
Also, be sure to check out the new podcast, Matthew has recently done for the great Melbourne Deepcast series. This one is aimed firmly at the dancefloor, with a few well known classics thrown in. Check it right here, this is great!
Any fan of downbeat soul, boogie, disco and house has to become acquainted with the exceptional talent that is Matthew Kyle. The 29 year old Texan has been a relentless conveyor belt of inspirational re-edit after re-edit and is also one of the coolest guys we’ve come across in blog world. continue..
We’ve been a bit quiet after the epicness of last week, so here’s a couple of tunes to get you going and kick off this weekend good and proper.
First off is the magnificent Loud Minority edit of the Curtis Mayfield produced Patti Jo – Make Me Believe in You
Patti Jo – Make Me Believe In You (Loud Minority Radio Edit)
Next up is the Noodleman edit of the classic funk band Fatback’s Booty. Be sure to check out The Noodleman’s Soundcloud for more shit hot edits.
Here we have a JLM edit of Dance, Dance, Dance by the legendary Chic.
Then we have a great edit of John Ozila’s – Funky Boogie by Pat Les Tache
And last but not least is another cracking edit by the brilliant Bonar Bradberry of jazz funk masters Cymande and their classic Brothers on the Slide.
SouthWestSeven is a new project for Belfast duo Ric McClelland and Sean Grieve, with an ethos of supplying some quality disco, jazz funk, soul & boogie all with a Deep House twist.
You may know Ric McClelland as the brainchild behind Scope, with a string of quality deep house releases & remixes for the like of Urban Torque, NRK and Plastic City to name but a few. Sean has been behind the S-Groove moniker with releases on Forensic and Dutchie Records
The two guys have gone into the studio over the last number of months and their hard work has come to fruition with a self titled EP released this week as the third in the Kolour Ltd Series for Kolour Recordings.
Following on from Eddie C and Alex Agore in this limited edition vinyl-only series, the lads have provided 3 killer tracks which are sure to wreak havoc on any dancefloor.
Sensation is very much on a feel-good vibe, with a looped female vocal, providing a groove reminiscent of Armand Van Helden’s Flowerz. The Only One is dripping with funk, with a phat bass line to tease the crowd and bring it right up a notch. And our pick of a great bunch is the excellent My Ride complete with killer vocal, heavy bass line, soaring strings and stunning build to a euphoric piano section.
And we’re not the only ones who think this is a great package of songs – My Ride has featured recently in Sleazybeat’s Melbourne Deepcast 22, and Sensation was featured on a Future Disco radio show, and chosen as his No 1 track in the recent RA Chart by Ooft!
The record is out now, pick it up at Juno, or usual suspects – be quick with this very limited pressing though.
We’re also delighted to announce that SouthWestSeven will provide an exclusive all-vinyl session for our isodisco mix series, so stay tuned for full interview and a very special mix from the guys.
As if we don’t give you enough, like..
