SouthWestSeven | SouthWestSeven EP

SouthWestSeven is a new project for Belfast duo Ric McClelland and Sean Grieve, with an ethos of supplying some quality disco, jazz funk, soul & boogie all with a Deep House twist.

You may know Ric McClelland as the brainchild behind Scope, with a string of quality deep house releases & remixes for the like of Urban Torque, NRK and Plastic City to name but a few. Sean has been behind the S-Groove moniker with releases on Forensic and Dutchie Records

The two guys have gone into the studio over the last number of months and their hard work has come to fruition with a self titled EP released this week as the third in the Kolour Ltd Series for Kolour Recordings

Following on from Eddie C and Alex Agore in this limited edition vinyl-only series, the lads have provided 3 killer tracks which are sure to wreak havoc on any dancefloor.

Sensation is very much on a feel-good vibe, with a looped female vocal, providing a groove reminiscent of Armand Van Helden’s Flowerz. The Only One is dripping with funk, with a phat bass line to tease the crowd and bring it right up a notch. And our pick of a great bunch is the excellent My Ride complete with killer vocal, heavy bass line, soaring strings and stunning build to a euphoric piano section.

And we’re not the only ones who think this is a great package of songs – My Ride has featured recently in Sleazybeat’s Melbourne Deepcast 22, and Sensation was featured on a Future Disco radio show, and chosen as his No 1 track in the recent RA Chart by Ooft!

The record is out now, pick it up at Juno, or usual suspects – be quick with this very limited pressing though.

We’re also delighted to announce that SouthWestSeven will provide an exclusive all-vinyl session for our isodisco mix series, so stay tuned for full interview and a very special mix from the guys.

Bakers Dozen | Piano Lessons

Eleven full minutes here of old school piano heaven, courtesy of Simon Baker.

Out now, pick it up at good ol Beatport, or the entire release is a bargain onetwennynine on itunes!

That lush piano melody btw, might sound familiar to nudisco aficionados – this timeless Westbam cut has enjoyed a renaissance throughout the festival scene this year. Michael Mayer fans will also recall its inclusion on his Fabric comp too. Absolute beaut.

On the 13th November Twitch celebrates it’s 4th birthday. After 4 years of putting on some of the best parties in Belfast in Laverys and The Stiff Kitten, Twitch has moved to it’s new home in the Bunatee Bar at Queen’s Students’ Union with Paddy, Phil and new resident Matt ‘Barry’ Burns.

As a birthday treat they have a Belfast debut for house and slow-disco sensation Trus’me. As well as having 2 albums under his belt he has also remixed artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Soulphiction and Amp Fiddler. His dj sets are reknowned for being an eclectic mix of house, disco, electro and techno.

Also on the bill is local man of the moment Jack Hamill, aka Space Dimension Controller. Jack will be laying down one of his live space funk sets that bridges the gap between house, techno and electro, with some live rapping to top it all off! Having already released on legendary labels such as R&S, Clone & Rush Hour, you can expect to hear a lot more from Jack for years to come.

It’s a Shame My Sister

Back in the day there was a wealth of charismatic female rap voices and a host of memorable tunes to match. From Sweet Tee and Tanya Winley to Nenah Cherry and Monie Love. If you haven’t already, check out Soul Jazz Records incredibly-named ‘Fly Girls! B Boys Beware: Revenge Of The Super Female Rappers’.

We recently heard The Revenge drop this Red Zone remix of Monie Love’s – It’s a Shame (My Sister) and it reminded us just how fresh those voices sound to this day.

ISODISCO PODCAST 002 | GREG WILSON

Greg Wilson. Hardly needs an introduction, does he?

With a career spanning back to the mid 70s in the soul, funk and disco scenes and progressing on to the very beginning of the electro scene in the early 80s, Greg was one of the first residents at the legendary Hacienda. He was also lauded as the first DJ to mix two records live on UK television, with this legendary 1983 performance on The Tube. continue..

Mighty Mouse | SWNW mix

Mighty Mouse put this out today and it’s fucking brilliant.. For some unknown reason we haven’t been able to go apeshit on a dancefloor for what feels like an eternity – if and when we get back round to it, it’s gonna be to something like this.

Soaring cosmic, electro-disco and space funk, this is the absolute business.

bored audio & isodisco | Halloween Party with The Revenge

We are very pleased to announce the details of our next party on the 29th October 2010, brought to you along with our good friends at Bored Audio, we present The Revenge!

Even if you possess only a mild passing interest in house music, you’ll have stumbled across The Revenge by now. You may not even be aware of it but chances are at some stage over that past 12 months, you’ll have heard, danced or more likely been obsessed with something or other he has touched.

His prolific output in the studio, be it as a solo artist or in conjunction with fellow Scots Craig Smith (as 6th Borough Project), or Ali Herron as the scintillating Ooft Music!, has seen some people suggest that Graeme Clark is the biggest thing to happen to house music in quite a long time.

Graeme began producing in his early teenage years, making a skewed blend of electronic music using a couple of his dad’s old drum machines and a sampler. Influenced by his parents’ collection of rock, soul and funk as well as eighties daytime radio and the burgeoning rave scene, he began the process of dissecting and re-imagining the music. As with many recent musical phenomena, the internets soon became his friend. Establishing a massively successful blog with Ooft partner Ali, their re-works and edits of classic soul and disco – tweaking them for the dancefloor and respectfully re-arranging them to across-the-board stellar acclaim – quickly became the stuff of legend. Look no further than The Revenge edit of Hot Chocolate’s Cadillac and you’ll see why. The frequency of their output was equally as stunning and it was clear for all to see that t his particular talent was something very special indeed.

Now keenly associated with the burgeoning pitched down, slow groove house and disco scene, Graeme’s DJ sets have become almost as revered as his productions. With a worldwide touring schedule that takes in every continent, The Revenge returns to Belfast on Friday October 29 for only his second gig in Belfast. This, folks, will be the hottest Halloween Friday night in the city and is utterly unmissable
